Dogue de Bordeaux

The Dogue de Bordeaux, often called the French Mastiff, is a noble and powerful breed with roots stretching back to ancient France. This magnificent dog was originally bred for guarding and working alongside farmers, which has cultivated a temperament that is both loyal and affectionate. If you are looking for a devoted companion who is particularly good with young kids, this breed is an excellent choice. Known for their protective nature, they make loving family dogs that thrive in a stable environment.

Despite their impressive size, Dogue de Bordeaux dogs have a moderate energy level, requiring regular but not excessive exercise to keep them happy and healthy. Some daily walks and playtime will suffice, and they are generally well-balanced in their activity needs. Their grooming requirements are manageable, with weekly brushing recommended to keep their coat looking its best and to control shedding. They are not overly vocal, which makes them suitable for families even in apartment settings, although they do appreciate having adequate space to roam.

In terms of trainability, they are intelligent dogs that respond well to consistent and positive reinforcement training methods. While they are generally good with other dogs, they may need some socialization to fully embrace their gentle side, especially with smaller pets like cats. At Petland Eastgate, Ohio, you will find that a Dogue de Bordeaux's affectionate nature combined with their protective instincts creates a wonderful family pet, ensuring that you will have a loyal friend by your side for many years to come.
